Since its founding in 1984, Langton Green, an Anne Arundel County-based residential community that supports adults with intellectual disabilities, has sought to achieve three main goals: Establish a place where people with varying needs and abilities could live, work and learn to make a positive impact on the surrounding community. Provide programs and services, tailored to the individual, that helps each person develop the skills they need to live as independently as possible. Ensure that each person is able to realize his or her potential in ways that they could not in a different setting.

Louisville Grows is founded by a group of “guerilla gardeners” gathering to make seed bombs in their living rooms. Their goal was to spread the importance of greening our community. This was the beginning of Louisville Grows assisting community groups and individuals on their journey towards sustainability.

The Michigan Urban Farming Initiative is an all-volunteer 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that seeks to engage members of the community in sustainable agriculture. We believe that challenges unique to urban communities like Detroit (e.g., vacant land, food security) present a unique opportunity for community-supported agriculture. We hope to empower urban communities by using agriculture as a platform to promote education, sustainability, and community while simultaneously reducing socioeconomic disparity.

We are building a future of māʻona, of plenty, by connecting youth and land through the daily practice of aloha ʻāina, empowering youth to succeed in college and secure sustaining careers, and growing organic produce that yields individual and communal vitality.

Mill City Grows fosters food justice by improving physical health, economic independence, and environmental sustainability in Lowell through increased access to land, locally-grown food, and education.
